CONSEQUENCE
What remains after the act
The dust still drifted in the air.
Scrolls scattered across the floor.
A tilted ladder.
A broken seal.
The entrance to the wing reserved for the Irrevocable Cases had been left wide open.
Pure effect of the impact.
Pyrion stared at the disorder.
“It was just a game.”
Espheris remained silent.
Scriptorath arrived with measured steps.
His gaze caught first the violated threshold.
Then the floor.
Finally, the fragments of wax.
“You understood the risk” he said calmly.
“Now you will face the consequence.”
Pyrion folded his wings.
“We only wanted to…”
“The consequence ignores intentions… it demands care” Scriptorath replied.
He slowly bent down and picked up a scroll.
“Every act leaves a trace.
It is the foundation of your responsibility.”
He pointed at the ladder.
“Let us restore the order.”
The young dragons looked at each other.
“All of it?” Espheris asked.
Scriptorath nodded.
“It is an act of respect toward the effect produced.”
Pyrion gathered the remains of the seal.
“And if it is impossible to fix everything?”
Scriptorath held his gaze.
“Then you will discover the deepest truth:
repair is the substance of the consequence.”
The dust slowly settled.
The disorder was turning into responsibility.
Scriptorath brought together the two fragments of the wax seal.
The lines of the crest no longer aligned perfectly.
“Do you see?” he said softly.
“Time can be reordered,
but matter retains the memory of the impact.”
Pyrion touched the crack.
“Will the mark remain?”
“The truth will remain” the Master replied.
“A scar is simply the way reality declares that it has happened.
To ignore it is vanity.
To inhabit it is wisdom.”
The dust, by now, had settled.
The order had changed.
But every fragment radiated awareness.
Dragon Lexicon
Consequence (draconian noun)
- The visible face of causality.
- The silent inheritance of every choice.
- What remains when intention has stopped speaking.
- Common mistake: confusing it with punishment.
- Proper use: to inhabit it until balance is restored.
Archivist’s Note
The Archive teaches that history is not made of intentions, but of traces.
Great tragedies often begin as games played by those who believed themselves immune to effects.
Scriptorath recorded:
“The maturity of a species is measured by the distance between the act and the awareness of its weight.
Those who act and flee remain small.
Those who act and stay to repair,
begin to fly.”
Dragon Scale
The Invisible Thread
Every step marks the ground,
every cry shifts the wind.
No act stands alone,
without echo, without strain.
Greatness is not the wing that never falls,
but the hand that gathers the shards along the roads.
